Principal’s Message
Fakaalofa lahi atu,
Welcome back to term four! Praise the Lord for the beautiful change in weather and smiling faces. The children love getting outdoors in the sunshine, it makes for happy children and happy teachers. This week we celebrated the Vagahau Niue theme ‘ Faliki e tau momoui he tau atuhau ke he Vagahau Niue…’Lay the foundations-give rise to Vagahau Niue for generations. Fakaaue lahi to our trustee Kevin Pasene for a wonderful school devotion on Monday.
The After school programme has kicked off this week and we’re very thankful for this provision under Level 1.
The children celebrated their Inquiry learning projects from the last term and are keen to share their learning about the impact of Covid 19. I hope you enjoy their learning journey too.
Thank you to those who attended the whanau fono last week on the topic ‘Well-being’. We appreciate your parent voice and feedback as we plan for 2021.
The Rise UP Trust Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 29th October at 6pm in the Bader Hall, please join us as we celebrate the 2019 Annual report.

PINK SHIRT DAY
On Friday 16th October we were able to celebrate Pink Shirt Day. In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day works to create schools, workplaces, communities and whānau where everyone feels safe, valued and respected. Here specifically at Rise UP Academy we do it so everyone feels welcome and accepted. So we invited everyone to wear anything pink on this day. A special acknowledgement to Nevaeh Letiu and Rettamae Martin of Room 2 for suggesting that we celebrate Pink Shirt day.
Whanau Notices
SUMMER & SCHOOL UNIFORM
HATS are now compulsory in Term 4 as it’s a great way to protect your child’s hair, eyes and skin from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. No hat means no playing on the field so please ensure your child brings a hat to school.
Now that we are in Term 4 we are back in shorts or skorts however your child may still wear long PLAIN BLACK pants/tracks if they would like to. Plain black shorts may be purchased from Kmart, The warehouse or Postie Plus from $5-14
SICK CHILDREN/ATTENDANCE
If your child is unwell please keep them at home. If your child has these symptoms for COVID-19 it is important that they get seen by a Doctor:
• New/worsening cough
• Fever (at least 38)
• Shortness of breath
• Sore throat
• Sneezing and runny nose
• Temporary loss of smell
If your child is away for 1 or 2 consecutive days we just need to be advised via phone call/text or email however if they are away 3 consecutive days they must
provide a medical certificate. If they have been tested for COVID-19 please keep
them at home until they have received their test results back—negative.
WATER BOTTLES
Water bottles are a MUST! Although we have the water fountains at school we also encourage our children to bring water bottles to school because this prevents them having to leave the classroom when they are thirsty but can have a water bottle inside the classroom.

According to the World Health organisation we will be affected by the COVID 19 for a couple of years. It is important parents please complete the well-being survey which has been emailed to you. This will help us to know how best to support all our whanau during this pandemic.
