Principal’s Message
Meri Kirihimete Whanau,
What a wonderful celebration of our students, their whanau and staff we had at the Rise UP Academy 2020 end of year Awards.
As we farewell our year eight students, Mr Andrew Letiu, Whaea Kilinoa Singapu we praise God for his continued favour and protection over them all during their next season.
I hope everyone has a well-deserved break and to sum up our childrens Inquiry learning topics this year, here is an acronym to keep us singing HIP HIP hooray over the festive season.
Hygiene for happy hands
Immunity for strong bodies
Pray pray pray for God’s protection
As you know we have literary artists amongst our Rise UP students this year and NEVEAH LETIU has decided rather than writing a letter to Santa to write to us all at RUA and remind us of the reason for the season.
A Christmas to believe in!
Every kid around the world gets very excited when Christmas is around the corner. They think of the Christmas story , they think of the presents they will receive, they think of cookies and punch, and they also think of writing to Santa! But what they don’t think of is th
e other characters in the story like the Wise Men , the Shepherds and the reason for the season especially the 25th! So I’ve decided not to write to Santa but to write to you the true meaning of the Christmas story !
So ask me why I’m going to write about the Shepherds.
I will tell you why, because they have an important part of the story. They’re important because they listened to Angel Gabriel, t
hey did not question the angel,or disobey the angel, they listened to the angel! That’s why the Shepherds are very special to the story. Did you know the candy cane relates to the shepherds part?, the candy cane means a shepherd’s staff and when you turn it upside it turns into a J , that J stands for Jesus, cool right! That’s why the shepherds are very important to me!
Now I’m going to talk to you about the Wise Men… say it. You said it wrong , you have to say it in a deep voice and with a smart voice, there you go that’s it! We know that King Herald sent three Wise Men to Baby Jesus and to bring him back to King Herald so he can worship Him. The Wise Men were obviously too smart to believe in King Herald, they knew King Herald wanted to kill Baby Jesus ,so once they had arrived they told Mary that King Herald wanted to kill Baby Jesus. Mary understood so her and Joseph took the baby and took another route home. Without the Wise Men, Mary & Joseph would lose their child, Baby Jesus. We are lucky to have the Wise Men, without them Jesus would have never performed miracles and would have never died on the cross for our sins.
The real purpose of why we celebrate Christmas is because of Jesus’s birth, for the wonderful Wise Men and the peaceful Shepherds. You may believe Santa and the Christmas story but what’s really important is Jesus!
