FED Lunches
What a blessing it is for our whanau to receive these FREE lunches as its one less thing to think about when getting your children ready for school in the mornings and its all HEALTHY!
Should you find that there is something that your child cannot eat e.g. muffin please liase with your child’s classroom teacher and they can remove this from the lunch however you may need to provide a healthy top up alternative for them to ensure their tummies are satisfied at lunchtime.
SCHOOL STATIONERY
Due to COVID last year and our inability to venture out on any EOTC (Education outside of the Classroom/school trips) we were able to bless our children starting at the beginning of the term 1 with FREE School Stationery as well as the contributions from Kristin School. What a great start to the year for our whanau!
WELCOME TO THE RUA TEAM MR C.
We warmly welcome Corey Rasmussen to our staff team. He will be part of the Learning Support team in our Senior School. In Term 4 of 2020 Corey also worked alongside some of our team as a fitness/wellbeing trainer – helping us demonstrate to our students the importance of having a Strong Body and looking after ourselves.

HEARTS & MINDS:
Kia Ora whanau! As part of our special character we have a declaration of commitment in which any new whanau who would like to enrol their child to Rise UP Academy will need to complete the Hearts & Minds programme. We believe this programme equips parents with the tools that will help set up their child for learning and it also helps parents understand our mission statement ‘when you enrol your child you enrol your whanau’. Parents if you know of friends and family who would like to enrol their child in 2022 then they will need to register for the Hearts & Minds this year. Our Hearts & Minds programme is delivered only in Term 1 & 2 this year. Hearts & Minds was meant to start Wednesday 17th February 6:15pm-8.30pm, however with the Level 3 Lockdown we will need to relook at our dates.
PERSONAL SUMMER CARE PACKS
SAMOM (Smith Ave Mind Over Matter) Trust kindly donated 20 personal care packs for our whanau. We would like to thank SAMOM Trust for the donated care packs in which our families were very blessed to receive. SAMOM Trust CEO Mel Browne and the governance team are Nerina Howe, Anna Holloway and Cecily Taufelila, Violet Slade.
GOOD TO GO VOLUNTEER ARM
Thank you to all our parent volunteers who were able to help out with our After School Swimming on Tuesday. We are so very grateful for your time taken out of your busy day to come and help supervise. Without your help we are unable to have swimming for the After School Programme. Looking forward to seeing you all again next week as we go into lessons.
Just a HEADS UP with volunteers – we have a whole school trip on Friday 26th March – SAVE THIS DATE, parent volunteers will be needed.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMME
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest team member – Mr C who is cool enough to join our team this year. Please take time out to say hi and show him the Rise UP way of whanau aroha.

Below is an overview of our programmes for the year. Just a reminder in regards to attendance. This is compulsory for all children 6yrs and over unless they have committed to other extracurricular activities or music lessons outside of school. Please keep us informed if your child/ren cannot attend the programme/s. Also pick up time is 4.30pm Mon-Wed if you are going to be late, pls let us know. If your child is picked up after 4.45pm without any communication then you will be given a warning and the next time your child/ren will be removed from the programme. Please understand that the After School Programme although compulsory is a privilege and comes at NO cost for your whanau BUT is of GREAT VALUE to your child/ren’s cognitive development.
IMMUNISATION NOTICE
A gentle reminder that our Year 7 & 8 students have a Gardasil/Boostrix Immunisation Talk with the DHB Nurses on Tuesday 23rd February after morning tea at 11.30am
SUMMER SCHOOL UNIFORM
HATS are now compulsory in Term 1 as it’s a great way to protect your child’s hair,
eyes and skin from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. No hat means no playing on the field so please ensure your child brings a hat to school.
In Term 1 we are back in shorts or skorts however your child may still wear long PLAIN BLACK pants/tracks if they would like to. Plain black shorts may be purchased from Kmart, The warehouse or Postie Plus from $5-14
WATER BOTTLES
Water bottles are a MUST! Although we have the water fountains at school we also encourage our children to bring water bottles to school because this prevents them having to leave the classroom when they are thirsty but can have a water bottle inside the classroom.
SICK CHILDREN/ATTENDANCE
If your child is unwell please keep them at home. If your child has these symptoms for COVID-19 it is important that they get seen by a Doctor:
• New/worsening cough
• Fever (at least 38)
• Shortness of breath
• Sore throat
• Sneezing and runny nose
• Temporary loss of smell
If your child is away for 1 or 2 consecutive days we just need to be advised via phone call/text or email however if they are away 3 consecutive days they must
provide a medical certificate. If they have been tested for COVID-19 please keep
them at home until they have received their test results back—negative.
