Principal’s Message

Tena koutou katoa,
As we land the Rise UP Academy waka for 2021 and prepare for a well deserved holiday …we raise a Hallelujah!
Thank you for your commitment, engagement and prayer support. Despite all the turbulence during the lockdowns and pivoting in all directions our students and staff have completed another year of Touchdown moments and a few Minties moments. Another year of firsts saw our first Hockey and Netball interschool tournaments, our first Project Y whanau event and a 1st Equal place in the front foot app competition.

Congratulations to all our students and particularly the recipients of the Special Awards:

This year we have prioritised the well-being of students and staff in all our decision making through the Lockdowns. We now see a new phenomenon called the ‘Covid Dip’, much like the ‘Summer Dip’ when junior students reading can fall back a bit if we don’t encourage our children to keep reading. So, lets beat the ‘Covid Dip’ and challenge ourselves to clock up some READING MILEAGE with our children over the Summer break. There are library programmes running still so post your pictures of your whanau reading on our Te RUA fb page to encourage and inspire others to beat the Covid Dip!
Next year our 2022 Theme is called CREATIVE NATIVES!

On a JOYFUL note, may this Christmas be extra precious as we take time to rest, pray and give thanks to the Lord for our Rise UP Community. Isaiah 9:6-7
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

Room 4

2021 has been a year of adaptability and Faith. After the extended lockdown; it was a momentous time to have our students return back under Level 3.2! The resilience and engagement was great to see and most importantly the joyful faces to reunite again with their peers, teachers and school. They calm ambience and transition was seamless.

Thank you to our learners who consistently zoomed in from home and even visited school. Once again thank you to the strong dual partnership between whanau and school. This would not of been possible without your commitment. Mrs Govender and I would like to extend a very Merry Christmas and a jovial holiday to you all.

We will continue to pray Psalms 91 over all our families. Blessings Mrs Faga & Mrs Govender

FOND FAREWELLS

It’s a bitter sweet time of year where we also farewell some of our fantastic teachers who are moving on or have decided to put away their whiteboard markers such as Whaea Nerina Howe who has been teaching Te Reo since 2014 and has been our Property Project Manager from 2018-2020. We also farewell Rachel Viliamu, Corey Rasmussen aka Mr C, Whaea Nyna Cecil and our Boomerang teacher Elena aka Ms S. We celebrate you all as you move into another season of your lives and we thank you all for your service to Rise UP Academy and just like we say to our Whanau ” We enrol your child, we enrol your whanau” – the same goes to all our staff.
